A new science webcast series initiated by Professor Steve Pointing at Auckland University of Technology, will feature high-impact professionally filmed webcasts from leading scientists in fields such as human health and nutrition, climate change, the natural environment, urbanisation and natural disasters. The series will profile cutting edge science and scientists in the Southern Hemisphere.
Professor Pointing says his Sci21 collaborators offer a unique view. “Popular science material on the web is overwhelmingly American and European, and based on American and European issues,” he says. “We face unique challenges in this part of the world, and southern hemisphere scientists bring a different perspective to international scientific issues.”
Sci21 launched last Friday (28-08) with a video on the emerging discipline of Astrobiology.
